Bloggers Making KONY Famous
As a blogger I have learnt that I do have a voice, and that people DO actually listen. Then why not use MY voice and bring together bloggers around the world to MAKE KONY FAMOUS.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, the NEXT best thing for you to do is to take 30 minutes out of your precious day and watch THIS VIDEO.
The main goal? To make Joseph Kony FAMOUS and to STOP him.
KONY 2012 is an incredible film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.
As bloggers, we have a voice. A BIG VOICE! Lets bring bloggers together and our readers around the world, by representing with the strong voice that we have!
Join the Facebook page “Bloggers Making KONY Famous“, for all the info you need to spread the word! Including a signifiant Blogging Poster Day on April 20th.
Tweet about it, spread the word and use YOUR VOICE! @bloggersXKony #bloggersagainstKONY

Thank you so much for sharing this! Let’s do this!!!
Thanks so much for spreading the word! I’m a little ashamed to say I had no clue who this guy was! So thanks for the information! I posted to my blog as well to share it too!
Saw this last night on Facebook, then again on Instagram, then again on the radio this morning… I love how this has gone completely viral and everyone is talking about it. This just shows how much good social media can do to raise awareness of really important issues that get pushed aside… I just wonder how many more people there are like this out there. And you’re right, we do have a voice! Thanks for sharing this Mon 🙂

Awesome idea! I made him famous on my blog… gotta keep it going!
Kony 2012 is without a doubt, a very powerful video. It proves that our generation can be persuaded with “mtv” style productions full of catchy music, infographics and the use of celebrities. While this campaign is definitely raising awareness and generating discussion about Kony and the LRA but it uses outdated information.
I believe that most people who have liked and shared this video know little about Uganda, the region of Gulu, the complex wa, its impact on the community, and how little this campaign will do to bring about real change in the region.
I am all for advocacy and awareness but people must question the effectiveness of the action kit, bracelets with unique IDs etc. and question how sustainable (in terms of cost) their awareness materials are. In my mind, plastering posterns and signs on April 20, 2012 is not a sustainable, nor an effective way, to raise awareness. There are other ways you can make a difference and bring about change.

K, thank you for posting that comment. The article from justiceinconflict.org is a great one that doesn’t question Invisible Children’s financial situation (although questionable), but rather looks at how complex the entire situation is, how it’s not a new thing, and the worry about too many people trying to “advocate” for the same cause. My favorite quote, “Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful.” – Samuel Johnson, and I feel that the reaction to the video is a great example.
This is my first visit to your blog, and I was a little disheartened that this is one of the first things I saw. As another poster pointed out, this campaign does little to help and I would argue is actually damaging. Please watch the video response below to see why:
