Navigating a Healthier Year: Snip-it on My Wellness Journey

With the turn of the calendar, I’ve found myself reflecting on the past year—a time of rediscovering my health and well-being, as well as my family’s! Finally emerging from the haze of early motherhood with my youngest now five, I’ve uncovered some valuable insights that have continued my approach to a more holistic lifestyle. (Thanks to my lovely naturopath too!)

My dive into a more mindful (and serious approach) to my “every-day” started with a closer look at what I put into my body, and on the table for my family, just over a year ago now. I’m talking more mindful than ever! Clean eating became a mantra, involving label scrutiny and a conscious effort to avoid inflammatory ingredients. It’s not about perfection but about making informed choices and treating my body to the nourishment it deserves. This is huge topic to get into, so I won’t get too personal about it. Just a snip-it.

Let’s just start by saying that I look at every single label, avoid processed foods, and understand the differences between healthy vs. inflammatory oils that are added to our foods, fillers and of course dyes. I reconsidered everything in my pantry and fridge and simply went back to the basics. For example, I got rid of all the processed milk alternatives, dairy free options and over processed foods that label themselves as “healthy” and “clean”, when in reality after studying the labels they were in fact not! I’m definitely more in tune and read up on organic + grass fed animal products, organic full fat dairy products, with added healthy sweetness from organic raw honey and maple syrups. So for example, one switch I made: instead of adding a popular sugary processed almond milk creamer in my coffee, my morning coffee looks more like this now: organic full fat cream, with a spoon of local organic raw honey. Best coffee ever. I could go on and on… Perhaps more on that another day!

In the fitness arena, I’ve gravitated toward low-impact workouts like daily yoga, pilates, and weight training. Beyond the physical benefits, these practices have become a mental retreat hand-in-hand with my daily 10-20 minute sauna session and occasional cold plunge. These small additions have had an outstanding benefit on my mental health, anxiety, sleep, concentration… and cravings! I’m addicted with how good I feel, and so badly want to continue my mindful practice of taking care of my health in more ways than one.

Navigating the daily grind (motherhood, work, taking care of an house hold etc, etc.) took an unexpected positive turn with the addition of my favourite Burn supplement. An amazing energy boost and alertness, paired with my Better Greens by Better Days, has become my not-so-secret weapon for tackling whatever life throws my way. No frills, no melodrama—just a candid account of the habits and products that have become staples in my journey toward a more balanced and intentional life. Here’s to a practical and healthier year ahead, where well-being is a priority without the fuss. Hopefully a few of my tips will inspire you to do the same!
