Lillya’s 1st Swan Lake Birthday Party
Lillya Grace, we cannot believe you are already one! Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday she was born? I’ve been planning up Lillya’s birthday in my head for quite some time. Since her birthday is in December, I knew I wanted to go with a winter theme, and first thing that popped into my head was Swan Lake. The romantic and delicateness of a calm frozen lake, yet warm and captivating. What’s there not to love about this set up? Winking lights, sequins and feathers everywhere. Frosted branches with hanging sugar cookies was just the start of the thought process in my head!
This party might be one of my favourites to date. Everything came together even more beautiful than planned! Hope you can grab some inspiration for your baby girl’s birthday too! All you need is lots of twinkling lights, a bit of sugar and lots of love. Annnnd the cake!! Oh, the cake. It might have stolen the show!
The dessert table was the highlight of the party. Every detail was perfectly aligned with our Swan Lake theme. The delicate branches hanging from the chandelier was one of my favourite finishing touches! Especially with the gorgeous sugar cookies tied to the branches.
Swans, swans everywhere! When I saw this swan made by New York artist Tamar Mogendorff, I knew I needed to include it in the party decor. It truly is a piece of art. I’m so excited to treasure it as a keepsake for the years to come, too!
Ahh, the cake. Where do I even begin? I worked very closely with the uber-talented Anna from Anna Elizabeth cakes to create the most perfect cake I could have ever asked for. I found this gorgeous swan ornament from Anthropologie and knew right away I wanted to use it for the topper. We then decided to have sugar flowers trail down the cake, continuing the stunning feather tail. Can you believe each sugar flower is handcrafted by Anna? Jaw dropping, am I right? A masterpiece of a cake to say the very least. She also made all the beautiful cupcakes and toppers too! Hungry for more treats? Our favourite churros from Hugo’s Churros were the perfect addition to our dessert table! Even better when dipped in white chocolate! I might have had more than just one!
The Whisk never disappoints for the most perfect sugar cookies! Swans and feathers hung from all the branches and lit-up birch trees! The detail on these were just amazing.
Lilly, you could not be sweeter! Your smile is always present and contagious! We just love you beautiful girl!
Lillya’s dress, cape and headband are all from Tutu De Monde. Beautiful dresses and accessories inspired by the ballet. Perfect for a Swan Lake birthday party!
This photo! Totally in her cake eating scene. The decal swans on the back wall, from Urban Walls, were so dramatically perfect.
We also created a little photobooth lounge area. Not only for pictures, but to just hang out too!
Girls made their own feather headpieces as a little craft and take-home gift.
The food was just spectacular! We have a very large family, so with planning the decor and set up I knew I needed some extra help with the food. I called The Lazy Gourmet to help a girl out! I knew I wanted food that was easy to eat and great for a relaxed party atmosphere. Sandwiches, individually packaged mini salads, and fruit were just some of the healthy options for our guests. They were blown away. Everything was so delicious!
I had invitations, plus matching favour tags and thank you cards, printed by Minted. I adored the rose gold details on the cards. They were just stunning. See card design here.
We had such an incredible party celebrating our little swan! I hope you enjoyed all the photos and are inspired to throw your next party! Thank you to everyone who helped make this party come to life! I’ve listed all details below, along with additional party supplies, to make your next event as easy as possible. We still can’t believe that our baby girl is one!!!!

Hi, Monika everything about this birthday party is dreamy. Can you share with me the Etsy shop that made the swan banner and where you purchased the loose feathers on the table please. Thank you so much.
Hi Monica! What a beautiful party! I’m thinking about doing the same theme for my little girl’s 1st birthday. Can you please tell me how you all made those feather headbands for your guests?
