A 40th Birthday Brunch

Hello to beautiful friends turning 40! Turing 40 is such a milestone, and I’m so happy to share with you the brunch that was held in honour of my cousin Stephanie turning 40!!! You might follow her over at @StephanieJeanDesign. Not only is she soooo beautiful on the inside and out,  she’s also kind, loving, welcoming with the biggest heart for her family and friends. I’m so proud to call her my cousin-in-law and one of my closest friends! I’m thankful her hubby asked me to help him throw this gorgeous brunch with the most amazing ladies in her life.

Since her birthday falls on December 24th, we wanted to make sure there was a hint of holiday in the decor. From the winter greens and garlands, flowers and holiday pears. Everything came together perfectly, the simple cedar garland up on the mantel adorned with brass candlesticks in three different sizes, the beautifully muted tones of these tapper candles from McGee & Co.. We also strung my favourite Christmas garland along Stephanie’s banister, thanks to our friends at West Coast Gardens. It tied into the mantel decor, plus giving that perfect touch of festive and holiday comfort to the room.

I love a good tablescape. This place-settings and florals really made the table. When it comes to a table setting, I would say everything goes!  Even if you don’t think you are going to need every single plate and or cutlery/ glassware it’s nice to put a full set out, it really completes the look and adds beautiful elements to a finished look. We were completly obsessed with the gorgeous chargers, dinnerware, flatware and glassware from a local rental company- Winston’s Events. It really brought that holiday elegance to the table. Simply stunning, don’t you think? For the food we served lovely quiches with a crisp green salad, fresh fruit, yoghurt parfaits and croissants with jam. We paired all of this with a mimosa bar with fresh orange juice and the lovely Odyssey White Brut from our friends at Gray Monk Winery.

The name tags are some of my favourite we’ve created to date! They were simple to make and added a special holiday touch to the table. Using green craft paper we cut out a single leaf, writing each guest’s name on each leaf.  Using a glue gun, we attached a small piece (2-3 inches) of floral wire to the back of each leaf. Then we inserted it in the top of the pear right where the stem is. Tied a piece of caramel coloured velvet ribbon around the top of the pear and vola!  We used Bosc pears as they have the wonderful golden tone. A little tip, if they are not sitting flat on the table simply trim a little bit off the bottom of the pear it should help and even it out, and no one will see.

I hope you can find inspiration from this Holiday 40th Birthday brunch for your upcoming entertaining. On that entertaining note. We’ll be signing off for Christmas and NYE, taking some time off and back at it in two weeks! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and blessed 2019!!! Thank you for following along, I’m so thankful for each and every one of you. Mon xo.
