Ensuite Bathroom

Step into our calming and timeless primary bathroom, a space that we love to escape to and relax in. The transitional interior design style perfectly blends classic and contemporary elements, creating a cohesive and elegant space that will stand the test of time.

The marble tile details are the focal point of the room, adding a touch of luxury and sophistication to the space. We sourced all the mosaic and marble tiles from The Tile Shop, and they instantly elevate the room, creating a statement that is both understated and elegant. The tile work adds luxury and sophistication to the space, creating a sense of opulence and refinement.

The shower is definitely the showstopper in this bathroom. The polished nickel double exposed showers are a stunning feature, and the marble subway style tile that lines the shower walls is a work of art in itself. We chose the Carrara Marble tile to complement the relaxing mood and create a cohesive look throughout the room.

Using two different sizes of marble subway tiles and trim pieces, we created a shower design that adds texture, depth, and elegance to the space. The larger tiles provide continuity, while the smaller ones add visual interest. The marble trim pieces create a striking contrast, drawing the eye and making the shower a standout feature of the room. This combination of elements gives the shower a transitional design style that is both timeless and contemporary. It’s amazing how much impact the right tile choice can make, and we’re thrilled with how this design came together in our primary bathroom.

The freestanding bathtub is the epitome of luxury and relaxation. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a long day, and the neutral colour palette creates a soothing atmosphere that calms the mind and body.

The lighting in the room is a crucial design element, and we wanted to create a warm yet unique look to the relaxing atmosphere. The chandelier above the tub is one of my absolute favourites, the hand-cut off white coco shells delicately shaped into floral petals add a uniquely romantic feel to the design. Adjacently the brass and lucite sconces on either side of the mirrors create a soft and ambient glow that adds to the overall luxurious feel of the room.

In the centre you’ll notice a beautiful hand loomed rug that pulls in all the muted and natural tones of the room, grounding everything and tying it all together. It’s the perfect complement to the tile and creates a intimate and relaxing atmosphere.

One of the most subtle yet significant design features of the bathroom are the doors between the his and her vanities, which lead into to my walk-in closet. The doors act as unique addition to the space, creating a seamless flow from the bathroom to the closet. They provides that extra bit of privacy and to the overall functionality of the ensuite. (They are painted Elephant’s breath by Farrow & Ball).

The walls are painted in White Dove by Benjamin Moore, a classic colour (a favourite of mine) that stands the test of time. It’s fresh with a touch of creamy warmth, a subtle backdrop for the room, allowing the other design elements to stand out. The addition of mixed metals of polished nickel and unlacquered brass add a touch of glamour to the space.

Our bathroom is a peaceful oasis that perfectly blends luxury and functionality. It’s a space that we love to escape to and relax in, and it’s the perfect example of how transitional design can create a timeless and elegant space. The marble tile details, mixed metals, and neutral colour palette all work together to create a stunning space that we will love for years to come.
